Noordhollands Duinreservaat and Noord-Kennemerland
Cycling through one of the most varied coastal landscapes in the Netherlands, with high dunes, rugged dune valleys, sheltered forests, flower-filled meadows, and picturesque villages.

The Landscape
The Noordhollands Duinreservaat is a vast and varied coastal area where sea, sand, and greenery come together beautifully. You can cycle through tall dunes, peaceful dune valleys, fragrant pine forests, and heathlands that turn purple in late summer. The bike paths wind their way between the dunes and are often sheltered by forest edges. On clear days, you can enjoy views of the North Sea or the open polder landscape behind the dunes. It is a place full of life but also radiates calm. You can hear the wind, the birds singing, and sometimes only silence.
The area around Noord-Kennemerland has a lot to offer as well. Along the coast you will find high dunes covered with marram grass, blooming heath, and fragrant forests. Behind these lie quiet dune woods and valleys where peace and calm prevail. Further inland you will discover the true North Holland polder landscape with flower-filled meadows, straight canals, and winding dike roads. Scattered throughout are picturesque villages where you can enjoy a pleasant break. The mix of beach, dunes, forest, and polder makes Noord-Kennemerland one of the most varied and characteristic cycling landscapes in the Netherlands.
