Noordhollands Duinreservaat and Noord-Kennemerland
Cycling in the highest and widest dune area in the Netherlands with rugged dune valleys and ancient forests.
The Landscape
Just below the highest dunes in the Netherlands you will find the picturesque dune village of Schoorl. The dunes around Schoorl rise more than fifty meters above the surrounding landscape. This coastal town also have the widest and most varied nature reserve along the Dutch coast. The Schoorlse Duinen, but also the more southerly located Noordhollands Duinreservaat, are vast and impressive nature reserves that consist of beaches, sand dunes, forests and heathland. And for those who are looking for more variety, behind the dunes you will find the typically rustic North Holland polder landscape with flowery meadows and charming villages.
