Northeast Veluwe and IJsselvallei
Cycling in a landscape with extensive forests, moors, sand drifts, floodplains, kolks and beautiful country estates.
The Landscape
The northeast of the Veluwe is a part of the Veluwe that is less known to the general public. A relaxing silence and beautiful nature are still available here in thousands of hectares for cyclists and walkers. The centerpiece is formed by the vast moors at Oldebroek, which has been a training ground for artillery weapons of the Dutch army since the 19th century. To the north is a peaceful farming landscape with historic farms and old trade routes that were once used by Hanseatic merchants from Germany. To the east a beautiful transition area between hills and floodplains with an unobstructed view over grasslands, kolks and farmsteads. The landscape here transfers seamlessly into beautiful cloudy skies on the horizon. To the south and west, the area is harmoniously taken over by extensive forests with heathlands, sand drifts and hidden streams.
